Description

Design, build, and maintain backend services using modern Java (17+), with room to shape the architecture. Lead senior decisions across API design, data modeling, concurrency, performance, and trade-offs, and collaborate with clients and teammates through to deployment.

Responsibilities

• Design and maintain backend services in Java (17+)

• Make senior-level calls on API design, data modeling, concurrency, performance

• Collaborate with clients and teammates on features and deployments

• Review PRs and provide feedback to keep the codebase elegant and reliable

• Contribute ideas beyond assigned tickets

Requirements

• 8+ years of backend Java experience

• Fluency in the modern JVM ecosystem (Spring Boot or similar, build tooling, testing)

• Deep experience with concurrency, correctness under load, and API design

• Pragmatism in choosing design patterns vs. ceremony

• Ability to work independently and asynchronously in a remote setup

• Consistent progress reporting via PRs and up-to-date project boards

• Ability to use AI/LLMs as a force multiplier

• Optional: interest in occasionally working on TypeScript/React
