Description

Lead and grow an engineering team that builds and operates the core systems of Amazon CloudWatch Logs. Own the technical strategy and multi-year roadmap, drive architecture decisions to improve scalability, durability, and performance, and deliver customer-facing features that increase value from log data. Partner across CloudWatch, AWS Observability, and broader AWS to translate requirements into delivery plans while maintaining operational excellence at massive scale.

Responsibilities

• Lead and grow a high-performing engineering team owning critical CloudWatch Logs systems

• Define the team roadmap and multi-year technical strategy to improve scale, reliability, and customer experience

• Drive architecture decisions with senior/principal engineers, balancing performance, cost, durability, and operational complexity

• Partner with product management, partner service teams, and customers to translate requirements into delivery plans

• Own operational excellence: deployment safety, metrics, on-call health, and availability targets

• Scale team operations with mechanisms such as operational reviews, design reviews, and engineering best practices

• Recruit, mentor, and develop engineers; build a culture of ownership, inclusion, and technical depth

Requirements

• 4+ years of engineering team management experience

• 8+ years of engineering experience

• 8+ years leading the definition and development of multi tier web services

• 3+ years providing technical leadership and project management across the software development lifecycle

• 3+ years developing large-scale, multi-tier distributed systems using Java, C#, or C++

• 3+ years developing large-scale, multi-tier distributed systems using service-oriented architecture

• 1+ years developing large-scale, multi-tier distributed systems using distributed programming

• 8+ years of Software Engineer/Software Developer or related experience

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, or related field (or foreign equivalent)

• Knowledge of development lifecycle practices: coding standards, code reviews, source control, build processes, testing, certification, and live site operations

• Experience partnering with product or program management teams
