Description

Lead the development of services that optimize EC2 capacity elasticity and instance lifecycle experiences by efficiently packing client instances onto servers, testing configurations, and improving utilization at global scale. You will provide technical leadership by solving ambiguous problems, designing and prototyping technical solutions, and working hands-on with senior engineers and AWS service teams to improve scalability and performance. You will use statistical and analytic methods to identify bottlenecks and root causes and orchestrate remediation actions across capacity management infrastructure.

Responsibilities

• Grow and coach a team of highly qualified software engineers
• Develop scalable mechanisms and plans to meet diverse team needs
• Partner with product/program management to deliver customer-obsessed outcomes
• Work on technical design, prototyping, hands-on coding, and code reviews
• Mentor engineers and lead local development for operational excellence
• Systemize bottleneck identification and root-cause analysis using analytics
• Orchestrate actions across capacity management infrastructure for remediation

Requirements

• 3+ years of engineering team management experience
• 7+ years working directly within engineering teams
• 3+ years designing or architecting (design patterns, reliability, scaling) of new and existing systems
• 8+ years leading the definition and development of multi-tier web services
• Knowledge of full software/hardware/networks development life cycle practices (coding standards, code reviews, source control, build processes, testing, certification, live site operations)
• Experience partnering with product or program management teams
• Strong communication skills; self-driven and able to deliver high-quality results in a fast-paced environment
