Description

You will lead a team building and operating Elastic Load Balancing (ELB) data plane systems that route, scale, and deliver every byte of customer traffic. You will own the technical vision, drive operational excellence, and grow engineering talent while shipping next-generation capabilities at internet scale.

Responsibilities

• Lead engineers in designing, building, and operating ELB data plane systems at massive scale

• Define the technical vision and roadmap for routing, scaling, and deployment capabilities

• Drive operational excellence and maintain high availability for a service underpinning millions of workloads

• Partner with senior AWS leaders, product managers, and cross-functional teams to align on priorities and deliver business outcomes

• Hire, develop, and retain top engineering talent while fostering ownership and innovation

• Make sound trade-offs between short-term delivery and long-term architectural investments

• Establish goals, prioritize work, and focus on inputs that drive the most impactful results

Requirements

• 3+ years of engineering team management experience

• 5+ years working directly within engineering teams

• 3+ years designing or architecting (design patterns, reliability, scaling) of new and existing systems

• Knowledge of engineering practices and patterns across the full software/hardware/networks development life cycle (coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, certification, live site operations)
