Sr. Staff Device Engineer (Logic)

Senior

139,500 - 139,500 USD/yr

Austin, TX

Quick Facts

  • Role: Sr. Staff Device Engineer (Logic)

Description

Own logic CMOS device technology from the design side, including DTCO, device design, and the models and design rules that enable circuit design. Build and govern PDK and device design rules for advanced logic CMOS (FinFET and gate-all-around) using TCAD/SPICE modeling and silicon correlation. Partner with circuit design to drive performance, power, area, and cost targets and achieve design closure.

Responsibilities

  • Define logic device architecture and transistor targets through design-technology co-optimization (DTCO)

  • Own device design for advanced CMOS, including FinFET and gate-all-around, targeting performance, power, area, and cost

  • Build and govern the PDK and device design rules supporting technology definition and design enablement

  • Run TCAD process and device simulation to explore device options and set electrical targets before silicon

  • Develop device models and correlate them to silicon, including compact models used in SPICE simulation

  • Enable circuit design closure via model accuracy and the intent of device design rules (corner behavior included)

  • Use parametric data, design of experiments, and electrical analysis to close gaps between TCAD, SPICE, and silicon

  • Set the device and modeling roadmap and lead technical decisions with design and technology development

  • Mentor device and design-enablement engineers and establish methods for modeling, design rules, and technology decisions

Requirements

  • 10+ years of CMOS device engineering experience focused on device design, TCAD, or design enablement

  • Degree in Electrical Engineering, Physics, Materials Science, or related field (or equivalent experience)

  • Hands-on design of advanced logic transistors including FinFET or gate-all-around devices

  • Demonstrated DTCO work translating device physics into design rules, models, and product targets

  • Experience building or owning PDK content and owning device design rule governance

  • Proficiency in TCAD process and device simulation and in SPICE or compact device modeling

  • Track record correlating simulation to silicon using parametric data, design of experiments, and statistical analysis

  • Practical skill with modeling and data analysis flows using Python and standard TCAD/SPICE tools

  • Ability to lead technical direction without direct authority and mentor other engineers

  • Clear communication of device, model, and design-rule decisions to technical and leadership audiences
