Quick Facts

  • Role: Senior Hardware Design Engineer (High-Speed Networking)

  • Focus: End-to-end hardware design for high-power, high-density Ethernet switching for AI networking

Description

You will lead the full hardware design lifecycle for advanced high-speed networking systems, including functional specifications, component selection, schematic/design verification, PCB/stackup specification, signal and power integrity validation, prototyping, and production support. You’ll collaborate with software, eCAD, mechanical/thermal, diagnostics/test engineering, and contract manufacturers to drive system debug and manufacturing test readiness.

Responsibilities

  • Author functional specifications for high-power, high-density Ethernet switches

  • Select and qualify components

  • Perform schematic capture and tool-based design verification

  • Coordinate with eCAD teams on PCB layout and component footprints

  • Run signal integrity simulations for power and datapath signals

  • Work with mechanical and thermal teams on physical realization

  • Specify PCB stackup and fabrication details with PCB vendors

  • Develop programmable logic for control and timing planes

  • Support contract manufacturers from prototype through production

  • Bring up and debug prototypes in the lab

  • Collaborate with diagnostics software engineers on design validation and manufacturing test development

  • Drive complex system debug across software, hardware, and test teams

  • Train contract manufacturers for high-yield test and manufacturing

  • Mentor engineers

Requirements

  • BSEE or MSEE

  • 10+ years of relevant hardware engineering experience

  • Networking hardware experience, especially 100G and 200G PAM4 Ethernet switching

  • Experience designing 20+ layer boards with 50G+ signals and advanced PCB manufacturing (sequential lamination, HDI, ultra-low-loss materials)

  • Experience with multi-phase DC/DC converters for high-current, high-transient loads

  • Experience with high-speed interfaces such as DDR and PCIe

  • Ability to write specifications and create schematics for complex boards

  • Experience working with CAD designers on complex layout and routing

  • Experience bringing up and debugging systems with software and test engineers

  • Familiarity with signal integrity and power integrity (impedance, PDNs, differential routing, insertion loss, S-parameters, TDRs, VNAs)

  • Experience with mass-production DFM

  • FPGA design and system simulation using Verilog or VHDL

  • Experience working with contract manufacturers

  • Demonstrated ability to take products from concept to production
