Description

Lead the research, development, design, and test of hardware/firmware components, equipment, and systems. You will generate requirements, develop detailed designs, define interfaces, and support V&V for hardware/software integration through DVT, ATP, and field/customer-witnessed testing. The role also includes implementing high-speed DSP functions (digital filters, FFT) in an FPGA and owning hardware integration and test with firmware implementation.

Responsibilities

  • Generate hardware and firmware requirements specifications from system requirements
  • Develop top-level and detailed designs based on hardware/firmware requirements
  • Develop test plans for unit build-up and integration
  • Define and document interfaces between hardware subassemblies
  • Generate/modify test procedures and perform/monitor testing
  • Support hardware/software integration (HIS), DVT, ATP, and field/customer-witnessed testing
  • Coordinate with customers, vendors, and subcontractors
  • Provide hardware resource utilization estimates and measurements
  • Participate in peer reviews of hardware and firmware
  • Mentor and direct junior electrical engineers (Eng. I and Eng. II)
  • Present at PDR, CDR, and TIMs; generate schedule inputs for cost/schedule
  • Own hardware integration and test of the HWCI circuit including firmware implementation
  • Execute tasks according to budget and schedule; prepare required status reports
  • Implement high-speed DSP functions in an FPGA (digital filters, FFT)

Requirements

  • 10+ years of experience
  • High-speed firmware design experience (around 300 MHz)
  • Firmware experience with digital filters and FFT
  • Desired: radar signal processing experience
  • Desired: DO-254 DAL A or DAL C experience
  • High-speed board design experience
  • Xilinx board experience: RFSOC and MPSoC
  • Board experience: DDR5 memory and point-of-load power distribution
  • Ability to debug complex hardware at board and box level
  • Ability to debug complex firmware and verify against a system model
  • Tools: MATLAB modeling and Xilinx Simulink
  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering
  • Background permitting a US Department of Defense Secret clearance when required
  • Comply with export control policies and procedures (ITAR, EAR, OFAC)
