Description

You will take over administration of an existing production Microsoft SQL Server environment and work toward stabilizing operations, optimizing performance, and ensuring reliable database operation.

Your responsibilities include SQL Server installation/configuration, upgrades, migrations, performance tuning, monitoring, incident handling, and root-cause analysis. You will also administer PostgreSQL and collaborate with development and other IT teams.

Responsibilities

• Administer and manage Microsoft SQL Server databases in a production environment

• Install, configure, upgrade, and migrate MS SQL Server

• Perform performance tuning and database optimization

• Troubleshoot and resolve operational issues

• Monitor the database environment and handle incidents

• Conduct root-cause analysis for problems

• Manage High Availability, especially Always On Availability Groups

• Administer PostgreSQL

• Gradually stabilize and optimize the existing database environment

• Collaborate with development and other IT teams

Requirements

• At least 4 years of experience with Microsoft SQL Server administration

• Practical experience with running production databases

• Experience with installation, configuration, upgrades, and migrations

• Very good knowledge of performance tuning and troubleshooting

• Experience with High Availability, ideally Always On Availability Groups

• Practical administrative experience with PostgreSQL

• Orientation in Windows Server

• Ability to independently analyze and solve operational problems

• English for everyday work communication
