Description

Prepare reliable, detailed cost estimates to support pricing decisions for long-term customer offers in the automotive industry. Provide cost analyses and commercial insights to help Sales and Purchasing in customer and supplier negotiations, and lead cross-functional cost optimization initiatives. Continuously improve cost estimation methods, models, and databases, and validate quotation-phase cost calculations against SAP costing data for handover to serial production.

Responsibilities

• Build detailed cost estimates for long-term automotive customer offers

• Perform cost analyses and provide commercial insights for negotiations

• Lead cost optimization initiatives supporting strategic sourcing decisions (make-or-buy, local vs. global)

• Develop and continuously improve estimation methods, calculation models, and cost databases

• Benchmark supplier and customer cost breakdowns and identify cost-saving opportunities

• Validate quotation-phase calculations against SAP costing data at SOP for serial production handover

• Drive a cost-awareness culture through benchmarking, training, and cross-functional collaboration

Requirements

• Minimum 5 years of experience in cost engineering/cost calculation, ideally in manufacturing

• Higher commercial or technical degree

• Proficiency in SAP and Office 365 (especially Excel)

• Very good written and verbal English communication skills

• Strong analytical skills: cost modeling, data preparation, statistical analysis, benchmarking

• Proven success in supplier and customer negotiations with stakeholder management skills

• Solid technical understanding of manufacturing processes, raw material markets, and global cost drivers
