Description

You will design, develop, document, and operate modern, secure, and highly available cloud platforms on Microsoft Azure. The role covers Azure solution design, scalable architectures, migration strategies (Lift & Shift, Re-Platforming, Re-Architecting), Azure Landing Zones, cost optimization, and networking/security/identity concepts. You will also automate infrastructure with Infrastructure as Code, run monitoring/logging/alerting, and ensure backup and disaster recovery while collaborating with stakeholders and delivery teams.

Responsibilities

• Conception, architecture, implementation, and stable operation of Azure-based cloud platforms

• Design and document scalable, highly available, secure Azure architectures

• Create architecture concepts, solution designs, operation concepts, and migration strategies

• Plan and execute cloud migrations (Lift & Shift, Re-Platforming, Re-Architecting)

• Build and evolve Azure Landing Zones aligned with the Cloud Adoption Framework (CAF)

• Cost optimization and efficient resource control (FinOps basics, Azure Cost Management)

• Design and implement Azure network structures (VNet, peering, VPN, ExpressRoute, Load Balancer, Application Gateway, Azure Front Door)

• Integrate on-premises, hybrid, and multi-cloud environments and implement Zero-Trust architectures

• Implement network security and identity concepts (NSG, Azure Firewall, WAF, RBAC, Conditional Access)

• Ensure compliance, data protection, and security requirements following best practices

• Automate cloud infrastructure with Infrastructure as Code (e.g., Terraform), PowerShell, or Azure CLI

• Implement and operate monitoring, logging, and alerting (Azure Monitor, Log Analytics, Application Insights)

• Own stability, performance, backup, and disaster-recovery concepts

• Support, optimize, and continuously improve existing Azure environments

• Advise internal and external stakeholders on Azure architectures and cloud strategies

• Run workshops, proof-of-concepts, architecture reviews, and technical presentations

• Collaborate closely with project management, Security, Compliance, Workplace, DevOps, and application teams

Requirements

• Multi-year experience as Cloud Engineer or comparable role (certifications like AZ-104 / AZ-305 desirable; AZ-500 / AZ-700 advantageous)

• Deep Azure expertise across Compute (VMs, App Services, Functions, Containers), Storage (Blob, File, Disk, Backup), Networking (VNet, NSG, Load Balancer, Application Gateway, DNS), and Governance & Management (Azure Policy, Blueprints, Management Groups)

• Knowledge of classic networking: routing, switching, VLAN, subnetting, WAN architectures

• Familiarity with VPN and hybrid networking

• Understanding of TCP/IP, DNS, and DHCP

• Structured, analytical, and solution-oriented work approach

• Responsibility and high quality standards

• Clear communication with strong consulting mindset

• Very good German and good English
