Description

You will deliver 2nd-level support for a XenServer environment, handling escalated incidents and service requests in an ITSM system, and troubleshooting at hypervisor, storage, and network levels. You will also support a project to design, build, and configure new Xen virtualization infrastructure, including pools, SRs, virtual networks/VLANs, HA, and backup/recovery, along with migrations and pre-production testing. Participation in on-call duty rotations is required.

Responsibilities

• Handle escalated incidents and service requests in ITSM
• Analyze and resolve issues across hypervisor, storage, and networking
• Administer Xen hosts, pools, virtual machines, Storage Repositories (SR), and virtual networks
• Manage patches and hotfixes; monitor capacity and performance
• Participate in ITIL Incident, Problem, and Change Management processes
• Create and maintain documentation, runbooks, and operating instructions
• Coordinate with 1st Level Support, 3rd Level/producers, and Storage/Network/Backup teams
• Participate in on-call rotations outside standard hours (including occasional weekends)
• Support planning, building, and configuring new XenServer infrastructure
• Configure pools, storage, virtual networks/VLANs, and high-availability solutions
• Support migration of existing workloads to the new environment
• Contribute to concepts for maintenance, security, backup, and recovery
• Perform functional, performance, and failover tests before production go-live
• Support acceptance documentation and handover to the maintenance team

Requirements

• Several years of experience in 2nd Level Support or XenServer/Citrix Hypervisor administration
• Very strong knowledge of Xen Hypervisor architecture (Pools, Storage Repositories, Resource Pools, XenCenter/Xen Orchestra) and xe-CLI
• Storage experience, especially iSCSI, Fibre Channel, or NFS
• Virtualized networking knowledge, including VLAN and Bonding/LACP
• Knowledge of High Availability and Backup/Recovery for virtual environments
• Experience working with ITIL processes (Incident, Problem, Change)
• Scripting/automation skills (PowerShell, xe-CLI, or Bash)
• Availability for on-call duties, including occasional weekend interventions
• German C1 level in speaking and writing
