Description

Help shape the UX of Kiro’s agentic AI developer experience across IDE, CLI, Web, Mobile, and an open-source workspace. You’ll focus initially on Kiro Web and work on ambiguous, early-stage framing and concept design, turning research about developers into interaction patterns and shipped improvements. The core challenge is designing how developers steer autonomous agents and trust AI that writes and validates code.

Responsibilities

• Conduct and synthesize research to build mental models of how developers think, work, and adopt agentic tools

• Lead concept design and early-stage framing using ecosystem maps, concept models, user stories, journey frameworks, and experience principles

• Own end-to-end design for major features across the platform surfaces

• Shape UX of agentic workflows (spec-driven development, autonomous mode, parallel agents, hooks, correctness verification)

• Iterate rapidly and prototype from low- to high-fidelity, choosing the right method for each challenge

• Design cohesive cross-surface experiences while respecting platform interaction paradigms

• Partner with product management and engineering with strong design rationale and customer advocacy

• Mentor junior designers and define scalable design patterns

Requirements

• 7+ years of design experience

• 3+ years of working with or evaluating AI systems

• Experience with multiple design, wire-framing, and prototyping tools

• Portfolio demonstrating deep audience understanding and early-stage design thinking (concept models, ecosystem maps, user stories, experience frameworks) and how research informs strategy

• Experience designing complex, multi-step workflows across multiple platforms/surfaces with strong information architecture and interaction design

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience designing developer tools, IDEs, command-line products, or open-source developer experiences

• Proven ability to adapt the design process and methods based on the problem

• Base salary range (USA, WA, Seattle): $137,800–$186,400 annually
