Description

The Electrical Tester performs electrical testing and quality assurance across switchboard and electrical panel manufacturing to ensure products meet electrical design standards and function correctly. The role includes daily testing and inspection, troubleshooting issues, coordinating corrective actions, reviewing quality documentation, and partnering across production, engineering, and quality management. You will also train new team members and support ISO 9001 audits, UL and customer inspections, and continuous improvement in testing processes.

Responsibilities

• Perform daily testing and inspection of switchboards, panelboards, and related sub-assemblies

• Ensure compliance with internal quality standards

• Review and approve electrical test reports, inspection checklists, and quality documentation

• Troubleshoot electrical issues and coordinate corrective actions with production

• Train new team members on testing procedures, protocols, and inspection standards

• Maintain and enforce quality control procedures for testing on finished products

• Interpret electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and BOMs with engineering

• Participate in root-cause analysis and support corrective/preventive actions (CAPA)

• Support internal/external ISO 9001 audits, including UL and customer inspections

• Identify testing gaps and propose improvements to reduce defects and rework

• Apply lean/quality tools (5S, Kaizen, SPC, FMEA)

• Follow electrical safety standards and lockout/tagout procedures

• Maintain calibration records for testing instruments and equipment

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED required; technical diploma/certifications preferred

• Minimum 5 years of electrical assembly testing experience

• Strong knowledge of three-phase electrical systems

• Hands-on experience using multimeters, insulation testers, and hi-pot testers

• Experience in low/medium-voltage switchgear assembly, wiring, and testing

• Ability to read complex electrical schematics and work instructions

• Ability to troubleshoot and solve practical electrical problems on the line

• Successful completion of employer-provided onboarding training during the first 6 weeks
