Description

The Electrical Engineer supports moving new electro-mechanical product designs from R&D into Manufacturing while also improving day-to-day operations. The role drives continuous process improvement and cost-out efforts, and helps ensure product quality through troubleshooting, prototyping, and verification/validation. You will also create electrical documentation (schematics, PC board layouts, assemblies) and support transfer to contract manufacturers.

Role & Responsibilities

• Work with repair technicians to ensure troubleshooting and repairs are effective and efficient

• Recommend design changes to improve product quality, performance, cost, and reliability

• Build and test prototypes for new product development

• Troubleshoot difficult electrical problems, identify root cause, and implement solutions

• Develop and maintain manuals, test procedures, and BOMs

• Develop PC board layout, electrical schematics, and complete assemblies

• Develop test plans for hardware/software verification and validation

• Perform hardware/software verification and validation testing

• Develop and implement process control techniques and procedures for manufacturing

• Create assembly procedures and work instructions for all assembly phases and provide training/oversight

• Manage PC board transfer to a contract manufacturer and resolve issues

Requirements

• BS in Electrical or Electronic Engineering

• 3-5 years’ experience in an engineering or manufacturing environment

• Proficiency with MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook)

• Strong communication skills and excellent technical writing

• Detail-oriented and highly organized

• Proficiency with oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, and processor emulators/debuggers

• Ability to prioritize and manage concurrent projects

• Ability to proactively suggest process or product improvements

• Ability to work independently within product architecture constraints

• Ability to work autonomously and in a team

• Familiarity with ESD prevention and IPC-A-610/J-STD standards; ISO 9001 and 13485 and FDA standards knowledge/experience are desirable

• Proficiency with basic electronics test and measurement equipment (e.g., calipers, multimeters, power supplies)

• Ability to read and interpret mechanical drawings and electrical schematics

• Ability to travel and work extended workdays as required

• Ability to lift up to 30 lbs unassisted; sit/stand up to 8 hours per day uninterrupted
