Description

The Regional Medical Scientific Director is a credentialed therapeutic and disease expert who exchanges scientific and medical information with Scientific Leaders (SLs). The role provides balanced, factual scientific information about non-product areas of interest, answers scientific questions, and supports exchange aligned to Scientific Exchange, Research, Scientific Congress Support, and Scientific Insights. The director also liaises between the scientific community and the company to strengthen understanding for company-sponsored and investigator-sponsored studies.

Responsibilities

  • Develop relationships with national and regional SLs and ensure access to company-approved medical and scientific information

  • Conduct peer-to-peer scientific discussions and maintain reliable medical contact with SLs

  • Answer scientific questions and route inquiries outside scope (e.g., grants) to appropriate resources

  • Maintain current knowledge of dynamic scientific and clinical developments in the therapeutic area

  • Support research alignment and investigator discussions within defined areas of interest

  • Identify barriers to patient enrollment and retention to help meet study milestones

  • Upon request, recommend study sites and potential investigators; conduct Site Initiation Visits (SIVs) and support protocol leadership with clinical operations

  • Provide information for investigator questions about company-sponsored clinical studies

  • Facilitate scientific and data exchange at scientific congresses and medical meetings

  • Collect feedback/data from SLs and/or patients to understand unmet medical/scientific needs and priorities
