Description

Lead a database engineering team responsible for the availability, performance, security, and operational stability of database environments supporting multiple brands. This is a hands-on leadership role combining people management, database administration, incident response, and delivery ownership. You’ll translate architecture and database designs into actionable work, while improving engineering workflows and automation.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and mentor a database engineering team: capacity, priorities, engagement, and day-to-day performance
  • Drive reliable database operations: administration, monitoring, maintenance, and incident response
  • Ensure continuous availability, performance, security, and operational stability
  • Manage incident processes and proactive database maintenance
  • Support after-hours rotation and keep operational knowledge, procedures, and documentation current
  • Convert architecture/database designs into sprint priorities, deliverables, and implementation plans
  • Balance operational fixes with project delivery and long-term roadmap improvements
  • Define and improve engineering workflows, automation, standards, and database management practices
  • Act as a technical advisor to guide database operations and delivery execution
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with architects, enterprise teams, product owners, and stakeholders
  • Implement security policies, compliance requirements, and engineering standards
  • Communicate progress, achievements, risks, and improvement areas clearly

Requirements

  • Strong, hands-on production administration and support experience with MS SQL Server
  • Advanced T-SQL expertise, including query performance analysis and maintenance
  • High availability experience and proven reliability practices
  • Experience managing database infrastructure in AWS or a hybrid/cloud environment
  • Practical infrastructure automation experience, ideally with Terraform and PowerShell
  • Familiarity with C#/.NET environments and applications depending on managed databases
  • Experience leading, mentoring, and developing technical teams
  • Ability to manage capacity while balancing incidents/maintenance and project delivery
  • Capability to define KPIs, provide actionable feedback, and support career development
  • Experience with structured incident management and production support/monitoring
  • Ability to translate architecture requirements into practical implementation plans
  • Experience managing after-hours rotations and full operational lifecycle ownership
  • Strong stakeholder management and communication skills
  • Fluency in English and Polish
