Staff Product Designer

Senior • Hybrid

New York City, NY

Quick Facts

  • Role: Staff Product Designer (senior individual contributor)

  • Focus: Research-driven, AI-native product design for agentic products

  • Location: Hybrid schedule in San Francisco Bay Area or New York City

  • Compensation: World-class packages with cash and fund equity

Description

Own the full arc—from user research to design to shipping a working, AI-native front end—for agentic products that power high-stakes decisions across the organization. You will embed with investment, talent, and global development teams to understand messy, high-judgment workflows, translate insights into elegant product opinions, and then build the interface yourself. You’ll also act as a product owner for the workflows you take on and raise design craft across the firm.

Responsibilities

  • Go deep on the user: run discovery research (interviews, observation, synthesis)

  • Design end-to-end: information architecture, interaction design, and high-craft visual design

  • Architect interfaces for humans and agents, treating tools, context, memory, and failure recovery as product surfaces

  • Build, don’t just spec: ship real working front ends using Claude, Claude Code, and modern AI prototyping tools

  • Own product judgment: set strategy, prioritize ruthlessly, define what “good” looks like, and measure impact on how people work

  • Raise the bar across the firm by teaching best practices and contributing reusable patterns back to core systems

Requirements

  • 10+ years designing and shipping software products, with substantial time owning user research

  • Comfort running discovery interviews and synthesizing findings

  • Strong interaction design and information architecture skills; notable visual design strength with a portfolio showing usability and beauty

  • Ability to reinvent your workflow around AI and build frontend interfaces using AI-native tools

  • Comfort with HTML/CSS and a modern component framework (React or similar); must build the frontend yourself

  • Product management instincts: define strategy, prioritize, set metrics, and decide what to build vs. cut with incomplete information

  • Drawn to complex human systems combining data, relationships, and expertise

Benefits

  • Hybrid work in San Francisco Bay Area or New York City

  • Compensation with a mix of cash and fund equity

  • Senior IC role with founder-like ownership and influence through craft

  • High collaboration with engineers and research teams; opportunity to teach and raise design standards across the organization
