Quick Facts

  • Role: Principal Product Designer (Consumer)

Description

Lead product design for a full vertical of a consumer rent-payment experience, shaping and driving the product vision with end-to-end ownership. You’ll align multiple teams around complex design challenges, lead critical design exploration, and set quality standards across features and concepts. Design for people under real financial pressure, including error, pending, and recovery states, while evolving the design system and AI standards.

Responsibilities

  • Lead design for an entire product area/vertical: vision, strategy, and end-to-end execution

  • Align and connect multiple teams into a cohesive ecosystem

  • Lead design exploration for the most critical projects and set standards by staying close to the work

  • Raise and maintain a high quality bar through critiques, standards, and feedback

  • Design trustworthy flows with clarity, honesty, and dignity, especially for error/edge/pending/recovery states

  • Build prototypes and artifacts to align partners and leadership on opportunities

  • Support strategic initiatives with qualitative research, data, and industry trends

  • Partner with PM, analytics, risk, and engineering to structure experiments (hypotheses, guardrails, success criteria)

  • Establish design-thinking methods/toolkits for other teams

  • Evolve the Design System (Ultraviolet) including patterns and visual language

  • Establish and evolve product-lifecycle standards for AI use; improve design-to-code quality with frontend engineering

Requirements

  • 10+ years designing and shipping consumer products

  • Product area/vertical leadership experience (beyond a single team)

  • Track record aligning several teams around a shared experience and knowing when to set standards vs. delegate

  • Experimentation and quantitative reasoning fluency (A/B tests, funnel and cohort data)

  • Strength designing unglamorous states (errors, edge cases, pending, recovery)

  • Comfort treating technical and regulatory constraints as design material

  • Evidence of raising the quality bar (mentorship, critique, standards, or durable systems)

  • Ability to design simple, intuitive products powered by complex systems and edge cases

  • Comfort documenting and explaining design process and rationale using best practices, research, and data

  • Demonstrated ability to drive execution to help the team succeed

  • Strong native mobile app design experience (iOS and Android)

  • Figma expertise

  • Experience using AI tools to sketch and prototype

  • Comfort with ambiguity and self-starter mindset

  • Passion for improving financial well-being for everyday people

  • Portfolio detailing shipped work

  • Competitive medical, dental, and vision

  • Company equity

  • 401(k) plan with company match

  • Unlimited paid time off + 13 paid holidays

  • Parental leave

  • Free subscription

  • For non-U.S. full-time employees: competitive compensation + company equity and unlimited PTO
