Description

Lead a customer research team to bring the voice of the customer into vehicle software and digital product experiences. Partner with Program Management and Software Product teams to plan and execute qualitative, quantitative, and mixed-method research, then translate learning into decision-ready guidance for product requirements and experience design. Manage research projects, resources, suppliers, and stakeholder follow-through to deliver timely, actionable insights.

Responsibilities

  • Partner with product and program teams to align research plans with product-development milestones and the GCR research roadmap
  • Frame business decisions, target customers, learning objectives, scope, success measures, and intended use of findings
  • Develop stimuli that connect product intent to customer feedback for internal decision-making and customer research
  • Represent the customer perspective in cross-functional forums with an evidence-based point of view
  • Plan, design, and execute bespoke qualitative, quantitative, and mixed-method research
  • Conduct foundational, benchmarking, and contextual research for requirements, experience design, feature prioritization, usability evaluation, validation, and launch readiness
  • Run pre-launch confirmatory and market-assurance studies to improve user experiences before late-stage decisions
  • Select research approaches such as interviews, ethnography, usability testing, in-vehicle evaluation, journey research, concept/feature testing, surveys, and competitive benchmarking
  • Translate learning into concise, decision-ready deliverables and perform read-across analyses to synthesize learning across studies and domains
  • Direct people, projects, and resources: coach researchers/analysts, set goals, and build a high-performance culture
  • Manage portfolio planning (priorities, work plans, milestones, budget, supplier support, stakeholder expectations) and oversee logistics, analysis, reporting, and follow-through
  • Provide clear status updates and surface risks, scope changes, trade-offs, and resource needs early; manage suppliers, budgets, schedules, tools, and facilities per GM policies

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree
  • 7+ years of relevant experience
  • Working knowledge of vehicle or product-development processes and the role of customer research in decision-making
  • Experience leading primary research or serving as a primary stakeholder from framing through application of findings
  • People-leadership experience (setting goals, coaching, developing team members)
  • Ability to manage multiple projects, priorities, schedules, and stakeholders in a complex, changing environment
  • Excellent written and verbal communication for clear, concise, actionable deliverables
  • Strong presentation, facilitation, and persuasion skills across technical and leadership audiences
  • Proficiency using AI-enabled tools to improve research speed, quality, and effectiveness
  • Must not require GM immigration sponsorship for this role
