Description

Lead a small team responsible for the sourcing, release, and change management of automotive connectivity telematics ECU hardware across multiple vehicles and architectures. Own specifications and documentation (including ICD/ICDm and DFMEA), manage BoM and Tier‑N compliance, and lead packaging/integration and production approval to meet performance, cost, and timing targets. Partner with cross-functional teams and suppliers to deliver secure and reliable wireless connectivity solutions through prototype, DV, PV, and launch.

Responsibilities

• Lead execution engineers for development and release of connectivity hardware modules
• Drive specification development for connectivity components (performance, RF, power, security, regulatory, vehicle interfaces)
• Own sourcing, ECRs, and alignment with Product Cost Engineering
• Lead hardware packaging and integration into vehicle platforms, meeting mechanical, thermal, and EMC constraints
• Maintain program interface control documents (ICDe/ICDm) and component-level specifications
• Maintain the ECU Bill of Material (BoM) and coordinate Tier‑N resiliency activities (design reviews, timing alignment, risk tracking, issue resolution)
• Manage contract manufacturer engagement for ECU builds and delivery readiness
• Execute production approval activities with required documentation, test evidence, and regulatory approvals
• Develop and maintain DFMEA with internal teams and suppliers; drive mitigation and continuous improvement
• Coordinate prototype, DV, PV, and launch hardware builds; ensure configuration control and timely issue resolution
• Coordinate hardware issue triage, root-cause, and resolution with design experts
• Support hardware bring-up and development/execution of in-vehicle system test plans
• Ensure design documentation meets safety, EMC/EMI, cybersecurity, and regulatory requirements
• Align with Product, Software, Quality, and Vehicle teams on roadmap and development status
• Report status, supplier readiness, and cost/timing risks; escalate as required

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or related field
• 8+ years of experience in hardware development for automotive, consumer electronics, or related industries
• Experience with GM processes for sourcing, part release, and ECRs
• Demonstrated ownership from concept through launch, including supplier engagement and cross-functional alignment
• Strong communication skills with experience presenting technical content and trade-offs to leadership
