Description

Lead a multi-disciplinary engineering team delivering engineered-to-order solutions for low voltage switchgear and low voltage switchboard equipment. Own team performance, technical quality, capacity planning, training, and continuous improvement while supporting end-to-end transformation in the Columbia, South Carolina location. Partner with global supply chain, middle office, and commercial teams to deliver world-class customer service and meet KPIs.

Responsibilities

  • Manage people: goal setting, performance management, competency development, recognition, engagement, and well-being for three supervisors and ~50 project engineers

  • Organize engineering work based on load, project complexity, and required skillsets

  • Manage departmental load/capacity and develop team versatility

  • Lead the visual Short Interval Management process to drive KPIs and overall performance

  • Ensure technical quality and service levels across the engineering lifecycle

  • Define training plans based on the skill matrix and competency targets

  • Ensure compliance with project requirements within product definition and design intent

  • Drive continuous improvement of design activity for technical knowledge, efficiency, quality, and productivity

  • Ensure customer satisfaction and quality for internal and external customers

  • Guide change activities to improve productivity, quality, and customer satisfaction using change management

  • Own Schneider Performance System Cards 14A & 14B for the engineering location; support other lean priorities as needed

Qualifications

  • Bachelor degree in engineering (required)

  • 8+ years of engineering experience

  • 5+ years of demonstrated people management and leadership experience

  • Desire for career growth within the organization

  • Fast learner; willing to travel periodically for training

  • Effective communication with customers, employees, and management

  • Flexible; prioritize tasks, work unassisted, and meet deadlines

  • Strong mediation, negotiation, and facilitation skills
