Description

The Buyer/Planner plans and creates production schedules for specific work centers based on actual demand and/or stock replenishment levels. You will review raw and WIP material requirements, manage work order and purchase order actions to meet schedules, and coordinate service and shipment status updates.

Responsibilities

  • Review and distribute production work packages and shipment schedules; analyze production and purchasing documents (shortages, need-to-order reports, open PO reports) to obtain materials, priorities, and personnel requirements

  • Lead the Service section of the daily Gemba walk; confer with department supervisors to determine progress of work and completion dates

  • Compile reports on inventory levels, costs, and issues with production and purchased parts; maintain system files and provide customers/customer service with status updates tied to production schedules and ship-date promises

  • Coordinate material needs directly with Production and outside supplier personnel to ensure proper material flow to meet production schedules

  • Communicate with facility personnel and customers to coordinate processing and shipping requirements and resolve service issues

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Operations Management, or an applicable technical field, or practical experience in a manufacturing lead role

  • 3+ years’ experience in a materials acquisition/planning role

  • Knowledge of work orders, inventory control, and flow manufacturing processes

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications

  • Knowledge of MRP/ERP systems

  • Ability to manage dynamic workloads (multitask during peak periods; detail-oriented during critical projects)

  • Strong project management, organizational, interpersonal, and communication skills

  • Ability to work independently and with a team

  • Candidates must already possess authorization to work for ABB in the US
