Description

Own technical responsibility for assigned products/product lines, including maintenance, improvements, cost reduction, special designs, validation, and new product development. Plan, lead, and execute cross-functional projects to meet roadmap, quality, cost reduction, compliance, and annual operating plan objectives. Use the established phase-gate development process to design, validate, and release products, documenting work and driving corrective actions when requirements aren’t met.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain and improve product lines; support special order design and new product development

  • Plan and lead cross-functional engineering projects for roadmap, quality, cost, compliance, and annual operating plan goals

  • Participate in or lead product development teams for design, validation, and release

  • Collaborate with Product Management, manufacturing, quality, supply chain, compliance, sales, and technical service to define specifications and design requirements

  • Develop robust designs balancing performance, quality, manufacturability, cost, schedule, serviceability, and regulatory requirements

  • Construct prototypes, perform inspection and performance testing/analysis, document results, and drive corrective actions

  • Lead/support design reviews, DFMEAs, design verification planning, and risk mitigation

  • Evaluate engineering change requests and execute engineering change orders through change management

  • Document designs using 2D/3D CAD in accordance with ANSI/ASME Y14.x drafting standards

  • Create and maintain part records, bills of materials, engineering specifications, customer submittals, and product documentation

  • Resolve manufacturing, quality, supplier, customer, and field issues; provide subject matter support

  • Mentor Product Engineer I team members, designers, interns, and co-ops

  • Identify opportunities for product improvement, cost reduction, simplification, standardization, and manufacturing efficiency

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or related technical discipline

  • 5+ years of relevant experience preferred

  • Ability to independently manage technical assignments and product-line responsibilities with limited supervision

  • Proficiency with CAD and PDM/vault systems (e.g., SolidWorks, Siemens NX, Autodesk Inventor, AutoCAD)

  • Ability to apply GD&T, tolerance analysis, material selection, and design for manufacturing

  • Working knowledge of manufacturing processes: sheet metal fabrication, casting, stamping, machining, injection molding, coating, assembly

  • Ability to interpret applicable regulations, codes, industry standards, and product certification requirements

  • Ability to apply engineering analysis techniques (spreadsheet modeling, mechanism analysis, finite element analysis, flow analysis, or test-based validation)

  • Working knowledge of project management, scheduling, cross-functional communication, and risk management

  • Strong communication, analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills
