Description

You will ensure data security by planning, implementing, and operating modern backup and recovery solutions, including fast restoration in critical incidents. You will administer physical and virtual server infrastructure end-to-end (installation, configuration, and ongoing performance/availability optimization) and handle complex backup and virtualization incidents via 2nd/3rd level support. You will actively contribute to migration, expansion, and optimization projects while proactively preventing outages through updates, security checks, and maintenance.

Responsibilities

  • Plan, implement, and operate backup and recovery solutions; ensure quick restoration in emergencies

  • Manage physical and virtual server infrastructure from installation and configuration to ongoing optimization

  • Analyze and resolve complex backup and virtualization issues in 2nd and 3rd level support

  • Support migration, expansion, and optimization projects to shape the IT landscape

  • Perform regular updates, security checks, and maintenance to prevent outages

  • Work closely with external partners and service providers to solve demanding IT challenges

Requirements

  • Completed degree in Computer Science, IT specialist training (m/w/d), or comparable qualification

  • Deep knowledge of virtualization administration (e.g., VMware or Hyper-V)

  • Multi-year practical experience administering backup solutions (e.g., Veeam)

  • Strong server management experience, ideally also with cloud environment administration

  • Experience with storage systems and network technologies is beneficial

  • High problem-solving and analytical skills for troubleshooting and performance optimization

  • Structured, team-oriented, and independent working style

  • Fluent German (spoken and written); English skills are an advantage
