Description

The Systems Engineer II supports the design and development of power electronics systems by reviewing customer specifications and contributing to system/subsystem architecture, technical documentation, and proposal budget estimates. The role helps mitigate development risks and verifies performance through simulation, analysis, and laboratory testing while maintaining design requirements using a requirements traceability matrix (RTM). The engineer also provides technical support by coordinating assigned tasks within the engineering team to meet cost, schedule, and technical objectives.

Responsibilities

  • Review customer specifications and requirements and support cost-effective design decisions

  • Develop architectures for systems and subsystems related to power electronics, drives, and uninterruptible power supplies

  • Create system-level technical documentation and proposal budget estimates; identify and track key development risks and mitigation plans

  • Verify product/subsystem performance through simulation, analysis, and/or laboratory testing under technical lead guidance

  • Maintain design requirements through an RTM

  • Support project execution: complete assigned tasks, communicate status, and coordinate with engineers to meet objectives

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering or an equivalent technical field

  • 3+ years of detailed design experience in power applications

  • Matlab simulation experience for electrical systems

  • Model-based design experience for power electronic systems (preferred)

  • Experience with Navy or other defense applications/market (preferred)

  • U.S. citizenship required

  • Active DoD security clearance or ability to obtain one within a reasonable time after starting
