Description

Develop mechanical product builds by reviewing customer requirements, drawings, and specifications, then creating and modifying accurate 2D and 3D designs.

Perform build calculations, manage and update bills of materials (BOMs), validate builds for fit/function/material selection, and prepare drawing packages for customer approval and production release.

Support manufacturing with fabrication drawings and design-related questions during production.

Responsibilities

  • Review customer requirements, drawings, and specifications to develop product builds that meet project needs

  • Build and modify accurate 2D and 3D designs ensuring accuracy, functionality, and manufacturability

  • Perform build calculations and verify dimensions, tolerances, and specifications; communicate discrepancies

  • Apply knowledge of materials, fabrication processes, and manufacturing methods

  • Partner with engineering and manufacturing teams to ensure builds are practical and production-ready

  • Build, maintain, and update BOMs throughout the design process

  • Review and validate builds for fit, function, material selection, and overall project requirements

  • Prepare preliminary and approval drawing packages for customers; incorporate feedback and revisions

  • Develop final drawing packages and release builds for production

  • Support manufacturing with fabrication drawings and respond to design-related questions

Requirements

  • Associate degree in Drafting, Build Technology, Engineering Technology, or related technical field preferred (relevant experience may substitute)

  • Experience using AutoCAD and 3D CAD software such as Inventor, SolidWorks, or similar

  • Understanding of mechanical product building, drafting standards, and engineering documentation

  • Ability to create detailed drawings, assemblies, and product designs with high accuracy

  • Knowledge of manufacturing processes, fabrication methods, and materials

  • Strong problem-solving skills; ability to work independently and collaborate with cross-functional teams

  • Ideally 3–5+ years of product development, mechanical development, drafting, or related experience
