Quick Facts

  • Role: Product Design Engineer (Product Engineering)

Description

Lead standard to moderately complex product engineering work packages for released quick disconnect couplings and related fluid conveyance components, including issue resolution, qualification evidence updates, engineering change execution, and product risk reduction. Use structured problem solving and fact-based analysis with test evidence, field data, and production feedback to identify risks, root causes, and improvement opportunities. Coordinate cross-functional teams to deliver technical recommendations while maintaining robust traceability and documentation control.

Responsibilities

  • Lead assigned product engineering work packages for quick disconnect couplings, connectors, adapters, manifolds, and related fluid conveyance components.

  • Investigate product, manufacturing, quality, supplier, and customer issues using test evidence, field data, production feedback, and risk assessment.

  • Serve as a technical leader for medium-sized projects or multiple smaller support actions, coordinating scope, plans, requirements, timing, and deliverables.

  • Prepare, review, and approve drawings, specifications, test requests/reports, product documentation, engineering change inputs, risk summaries, and technical evidence.

  • Lead/support engineering changes, design improvements, cost-out and manufacturability improvements, alternate material reviews, supplier changes, production transfers, and customer-specific technical requests.

  • Coordinate cross-functional inputs from test lab, Manufacturing Engineering, Quality, Operations, Supply Chain, Product Management, Sales, suppliers, and customers.

  • Analyze test results, drawings, specifications, field data, production feedback, and documentation to identify trends, gaps, risks, and root causes.

  • Define/support evaluation plans for pressure, leak, flow, cleanliness, compatibility, sealing, durability, duty cycle, lifetime, and reliability.

  • Support qualification maintenance, compliance evidence, customer-facing technical evidence, and product risk reviews.

  • Participate in NPD design reviews and lifecycle reviews to transfer lessons learned and released product risks.

  • Maintain traceability of technical evidence, test data, qualification records, decision history, engineering changes, and documentation control.

  • Coach and mentor less experienced engineers/technicians; improve CPE processes, documentation quality, and cross-site collaboration.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering, product engineering, engineering science, or related technical field (required); master’s degree or advanced technical education preferred.

  • Relevant experience in current product engineering, product/manufacturing support, product development, quality support, or fluid conveyance/couplings/pressure-boundary component engineering.

  • Ability to lead moderately complex technical work packages and deliver recommendations with limited supervision.

  • Experience preferred in structured problem solving, data analysis, DFSS/Lean methods, test planning, engineering change processes, and engineering documentation practices.

  • Ability to communicate technical findings clearly to internal and external stakeholders through reports, presentations, and project reviews.

Benefits

  • Delivery of assigned work packages, investigations, documentation updates, test requests/reports, and engineering change inputs within agreed timing and quality expectations.

  • Opportunities to protect safety, reliability, compliance, manufacturability, and customer confidence through technical leadership and cross-functional collaboration.

  • Support continuous improvement of processes, standards, and documentation quality for faster issue closure and stronger technical evidence.
