The Division of Genetics is seeking a Board Certified/Board Eligible Medical Geneticist to join its growing academic faculty. This position offers the opportunity to build an academic career in clinical practice, medical education, research, leadership, or program development. Faculty responsibilities can be tailored to support professional goals. Physicians with Biochemical/Metabolic Genetics training are highly desired; applicants with a broad range of Medical Genetics interests are welcome.

Meaningful Clinical Practice

The role provides specialized genetic care to children and families across Oklahoma, including patients who travel long distances for care.

Practice highlights include:

  • Primarily outpatient practice with inpatient consultation responsibilities
  • Approximately 8 half-day outpatient clinics per week when not covering consults
  • Clinic schedule reduced during consult weeks to maintain work-life balance
  • Average of approximately 5 patients per half-day clinic session, allowing meaningful time with complex patients
  • Approximately 70% new consultations and 30% follow-up visits
  • Primarily pediatric patient population with limited adult genetics care
  • Opportunities to participate in multidisciplinary specialty clinics across the health system
  • Epic EMR

Call Schedule

  • Home call while covering the inpatient consult service
  • Anticipated call approximately 1 week in 4 once fully staffed
  • Genetics functions as a consult service; no primary inpatient service
  • Overnight hospital attending coverage is always available

Candidate Qualifications

  • Board Certified or Board Eligible in Medical Genetics
  • Biochemical/Metabolic Genetics training strongly preferred
