Description

You will build backend services that model businesses for Business Map, including locations, ownership organization, and grouping. You will own features end to end on a small team, from design through production rollout, partnering closely with Staff and Principal engineers. Your work will be used broadly across the platform.

Responsibilities

• Design, build, and ship backend features from written design through production rollout

• Own a feature area end to end, including tests, monitoring, and staged rollout behind feature flags

• Collaborate with partner teams adopting new location and organization data

• Participate in on-call rotation and fix root causes found there

• Write feature designs and provide thoughtful code reviews

• Pair with and support newer engineers through code review and collaboration

Requirements

• 5+ years building backend services in Java, Kotlin, or another object-oriented language

• Proficient with relational databases and SQL (Postgres)

• Experience owning and operating production systems (on-call and live debugging)

• Experience with distributed systems, event-driven messaging, or microservices

• Demonstrated ability to take ambiguous projects from design to production

• Clear written and verbal communication with engineers and product partners

• Experience or strong interest in using coding agents and AI-assisted development daily
