Description

As a Senior Software Engineer, you will design, build, and evolve backend systems and services that power the Organizer platform. You will own problems end-to-end—from discovery through production—while collaborating with Product, Design, Engineering, and other stakeholders. You will help drive architectural decisions and keep backend systems reliable, scalable, maintainable, and secure as the organization grows.

Responsibilities

• Own outcomes from problem discovery through deployment and production
• Exercise technical judgment by evaluating alternatives and recommending appropriate tradeoffs
• Handle ambiguity by identifying missing information and asking the right questions
• Consider impacts beyond your immediate changes (reliability, maintainability, other services, future work)
• Raise team effectiveness through feedback, mentorship, and improved engineering practices
• Communicate early about risks, uncertainty, dependencies, and changing assumptions
• Improve systems by advancing reliability, documentation, testing, observability, and developer experience

Requirements

• Proven experience designing, developing, and maintaining backend software in production environments
• Strong understanding of software design principles and ability to evaluate architectural tradeoffs
• Proven experience designing and maintaining APIs (e.g., GraphQL), distributed services, and data-intensive applications
• Proven experience debugging complex problems across services, infrastructure, and data
• Strong understanding of relational and/or NoSQL databases (MongoDB), including data modeling and query performance
• Strong written and verbal communication skills
• Proven experience collaborating effectively across Engineering, Product, and other disciplines
• Familiarity with incident management and logging, monitoring, and observability in production environments
• Familiarity with CI/CD practices and modern deployment environments
• Demonstrated mentorship and technical leadership in team settings
• Experience building modern JavaScript/TypeScript solutions
• Experience working with event-driven or distributed architectures (e.g., AWS)
