Description

Lead consumer engineering teams within the New Verticals division to deliver high-quality, delightful, and trustworthy consumer experiences. Own multiple workstreams tied to critical business KPIs, partner closely with Product and business leaders, and represent Consumer engineering in company-wide architecture and quality initiatives. Ensure reliability, data integrity, and financial correctness across consumer workflows while maintaining production health and operational readiness.

Responsibilities

• Define and execute consumer architecture supporting the expansion into essential spend

• Lead large, ambiguous projects from early exploration through launch and scale

• Coordinate cross-team dependencies and resolve blockers

• Establish feedback loops using customer behavior to iterate and scale products

• Provide technical leadership through design reviews and high-impact engineering decisions

• Manage and grow engineers; set ownership for customer outcomes, engineering quality, and operational excellence

• Improve observability, scalability, and incident response for consumer services

• Partner with Risk, Compliance, and platform teams to embed safeguards into financial workflows

• Ensure new capabilities launch with monitoring, support readiness, and clear operational ownership

Requirements

• 8+ years of software engineering experience across frontend and backend systems

• 3+ years managing engineers

• Experience building and scaling consumer-facing products and the APIs/backend systems that power them

• Strong product judgment and proven partnership with product and business leadership

• Experience leading ambiguous cross-functional initiatives from early definition to iteration

• Strong understanding of distributed systems, service architecture, reliability, and data integrity

• Experience owning production services with high standards for uptime, correctness, and operational readiness

• Proven track record of growing engineers with ownership and accountability

• Ability to influence technical direction across teams and balance new business-line needs with shared company capabilities
