Description

You will design, develop, test, and deploy backend services, APIs, and system components for ground systems supporting experimental mission capabilities in TS/SCI and SAP environments. You will build and integrate software interacting with satellite ground systems, network management interfaces, and secure communications, collaborating with engineering, DevSecOps, and test teams in Agile cycles.

You will also support secure coding practices and DoD cybersecurity requirements, perform code reviews, and assist with release and beta testing.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, test, and deploy backend services, APIs, and system components
• Collaborate with frontend developers, systems engineers, DevSecOps teams, and testers for integration and delivery
• Develop software components for satellite ground systems, network management interfaces, and secure communications protocols
• Optimize performance and reliability using well-structured code, profiling, and debugging
• Support secure coding practices and ensure compliance with DoD cybersecurity requirements
• Participate in Agile cycles (sprint planning, daily scrums, retrospectives)
• Conduct peer code reviews and contribute to architecture decisions for scalability, maintainability, and performance
• Perform software and system testing, bug verification, release testing, and beta support
• Participate in product design and programming across multiple modules or subsystems
• Support interface evaluation between hardware and software and meet operational/performance requirements
• Prepare product documentation and analyze/research software requirements for feasibility
• May consult with customer(s) on application and software maintenance

Requirements

• U.S. citizenship and an active DoD TOP SECRET security clearance
• Bachelor's degree in Engineering or a related technical discipline with 4+ years of relevant experience, or a Master's degree with 2+ years of relevant experience
• Experience with Red Hat OpenShift, Kafka, Kubernetes, and Apache Camel
• Ability to convert logical (MBSE) architecture into deployment architecture
• Experience supporting Agile best practices to improve team efficiency and delivery consistency
• Technical leadership experience (priorities, decision support, mentoring)
• Strong debugging skills using tools such as GDB, Valgrind, or performance profilers
• Strong communication and collaboration skills within Agile teams

• Salary range: $95,000–$110,000 per year (based on qualifications, skills, education, and experience)
