Description

Provide locum gastroenterology coverage in an acute care hospital setting. You will manage adult digestive disorders through diagnosis, treatment, and follow-up, including endoscopic procedures if within the scope of practice. You’ll also maintain accurate records and coordinate with the healthcare team.

Responsibilities

• Diagnose and treat a wide range of digestive system disorders

• Conduct comprehensive patient histories and physical examinations

• Order and interpret diagnostic tests (endoscopies, X-rays, CT scans, blood tests)

• Perform endoscopic procedures to diagnose and treat GI conditions (as applicable)

• Develop and implement treatment plans; manage chronic digestive conditions

• Collaborate with surgeons, radiologists, and other specialists

• Educate patients on digestive health and disease prevention

• Maintain accurate and complete medical records

• Stay current with gastroenterology through continuing education

Requirements

• MD or DO from an accredited medical school

• Internal medicine residency training accredited by ACGME or AOA

• Gastroenterology fellowship training (may be preferred)

• Board certification in gastroenterology by ABIM or AOA

• Active and unrestricted Missouri medical license

• Preferred: at least 1 year of gastroenterology experience in a clinical or hospital setting
