Description

The Emergency Department Assistant (EDA) provides direct and indirect patient care support in the Emergency Department. You will coordinate patient flow, assist the healthcare team, and complete ED-specific procedures and documentation. Responsibilities include wound care, vital signs, ECGs, monitoring, phlebotomy, specimen handling, patient transport, and room/equipment readiness.

Responsibilities

• Follow established ED policies, procedures, and standards of care
• Coordinate patient flow and assist healthcare team members
• Plan, organize, and prioritize daily activities and multiple tasks
• Provide direct patient care: wound care/irrigation, dressing application, steri-strips, suture removal, splinting/orthopedic device assistance, ECGs, monitoring, vital signs, phlebotomy, specimen processing, bedside waived testing, patient hygiene, transport, admission/transfer/discharge support, and CPR
• Provide indirect patient care: maintain a clean and safe work environment, prep patient rooms, maintain patient care stock, support sterilization workflow, complete room checks and waived testing quality measures, and assist with order entry and telephone response
• Participate in emergency preparedness procedures and complete shift reports

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent
• Previous patient care experience with demonstrated communication and interpersonal skills
• CPR certification from the American Heart Association
