Description

Provide supervised clinical care across a range of specialties, supporting physicians in patients’ recovery. You will examine patients, review medical histories, perform routine measurements and procedures, order and interpret diagnostic tests, and treat minor injuries. You will also prescribe therapy or medication with physician approval and monitor patient progress while maintaining accurate records.

Responsibilities

• Provide healthcare services under supervision of a physician
• Examine patients and record medical histories
• Conduct physicals and treat minor injuries (e.g., sutures, splints)
• Order diagnostic tests, interpret results, and diagnose medical conditions
• Prescribe therapy or medication with physician approval
• Monitor patient responses to treatments and counsel patients
• Assess patient health needs and work to fulfill them
• Issue appropriate prescriptions and administer medicine
• Inform physicians of problems or discrepancies
• Acquire and review patient histories to identify abnormal conditions
• Monitor patient progress and keep records of treatments, surgeries, and other medical events
• Prepare patients for examinations and conduct routine procedures (e.g., measure blood pressure and temperature, administer injections)
• Provide therapeutic treatments (e.g., disinfecting wounds, stitching)
• Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team
• Attend to emergencies

Requirements

• Master’s Degree required
• Active New York Physician Assistant license
• Current New York Controlled Substance and DEA registration
• Graduate of an approved PA Program and post-graduate training in surgery or at least 1 year equivalent work experience
• Current NCCPA certification
• Proven work experience as a physician assistant or nurse
• DOT, BLS, ACLS preferred
• Bilingual (Spanish) is a plus
• Emergency Medicine/Family Practice/Acute Care background preferred
• Knowledge of EMR systems preferred
