Description

Provide supervised primary care services to a diverse patient population, supporting patients’ recovery through medical assessment, diagnostics, and treatment. You will examine patients, manage minor injuries, order and interpret diagnostic tests, prescribe therapy or medication with physician approval, and monitor treatment responses while maintaining accurate records.

Responsibilities

• Provide healthcare services under physician supervision

• Examine patients and record medical histories

• Conduct physicals and treat minor injuries (e.g., sutures, splints)

• Order diagnostic tests, interpret results, and diagnose medical conditions

• Prescribe therapy or medication with physician approval; issue appropriate prescriptions and administer medicine

• Monitor responses to treatments and counsel patients

• Assess patient health demands and help fulfill them as well as possible

• Inform physicians about problems or discrepancies

• Acquire and review patient histories identifying abnormal conditions

• Monitor patient progress and keep records of treatments, surgeries, or other medical events

• Prepare patients for examinations and conduct routine procedures (e.g., measure blood pressure and temperature, administer injections)

• Provide therapeutic treatments (e.g., disinfecting wounds, stitching)

• Collaborate with team members across specializations

• Attend to emergencies

Requirements

• Master’s Degree required

• Active New York license as a Physician Assistant

• Current New York Controlled Substance registration and DEA registration

• Graduate of an approved Physician Assistant Program

• Post-graduate training program in surgery or at least one-year equivalent work experience

• Current certification by the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants (NCCPA)

• Experience with Emergency Medicine / Family Practice / Acute Care

• DOT, BLS, and ACLS preferred

• Bilingual Spanish a plus

• Proven work experience as a physician assistant or nurse

• Knowledge of EMR systems preferred
