Description

Physician Assistants provide supervised clinical care across multiple specialties, helping patients recover and supporting physicians in day-to-day treatment. Key work includes examining patients, documenting histories, ordering and interpreting diagnostic tests, and prescribing therapy or medication with physician approval. You will also monitor patient progress, counsel patients, assist with routine procedures, and respond to emergencies as needed.

Responsibilities

• Provide healthcare services under supervision of a physician
• Examine patients and document medical histories
• Conduct physicals and treat minor injuries (e.g., sutures, splints)
• Order diagnostic tests, interpret results, and diagnose medical conditions
• Prescribe therapy or medication with physician approval; issue prescriptions and administer medicine
• Monitor responses to treatments and counsel patients
• Assess patient health needs and work to meet them
• Inform physicians of problems or discrepancies
• Acquire and review patient histories for abnormal conditions
• Monitor patient progress and maintain records of treatments, surgeries, and other medical events
• Prepare patients for examinations and perform routine procedures (e.g., measure blood pressure/temperature, administer injections)
• Provide therapeutic treatments (e.g., disinfect wounds, stitching)
• Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team
• Attend to emergencies

Requirements

• Master’s degree required
• Active New York Physician Assistant license
• Current New York Controlled Substance registration and DEA registration
• Graduate of an approved PA program
• Post-graduate training in surgery OR at least one-year equivalent work experience
• Current certification by NCCPA
• Emergency Medicine / Family Practice / Acute Care experience
• DOT, BLS, ACLS preferred
• Bilingual (Spanish) is a plus
• Proven work experience as a Physician Assistant or Nurse
• Knowledge of EMR systems preferred
