Description

Physician Assistants will support physicians by providing patient care under supervision, using medical techniques and principles to facilitate recovery. The role includes comprehensive assessments, diagnostics, treatment planning, and ongoing monitoring while coordinating effectively with multidisciplinary teams.

Responsibilities

• Provide healthcare services under supervision of a physician
• Examine patients and record medical histories
• Conduct physicals and treat minor injuries (e.g., sutures, splints)
• Order diagnostic tests, interpret results, and diagnose medical conditions
• Prescribe therapy or medication with physician approval
• Monitor patient responses and counsel patients
• Assess patient health needs and work to fulfill them
• Issue appropriate prescriptions and administer medicine
• Inform physicians about problems or discrepancies
• Acquire/review patient histories for abnormal conditions
• Monitor patient progress and keep records of treatments, surgeries, and other medical events
• Prepare patients for examinations and conduct routine procedures (e.g., measure blood pressure/temperature, administer injections)
• Provide therapeutic treatments (e.g., disinfecting wounds, stitching)
• Collaborate with team members across specializations
• Attend to emergencies

Requirements

• Master’s degree required
• Active New York license as a Physician Assistant
• Current New York Controlled Substance registration and DEA registration
• Graduation from an approved PA program and post-graduate training in surgery or at least one year equivalent work experience
• Current NCCPA certification
• Proven work experience as a physician assistant or nurse
