• Role: Urologist (urology specialist)

Description

Provide specialist care for male and female urinary tract conditions and for conditions affecting the male reproductive organs. You will examine, diagnose, and treat genitourinary disorders, order and interpret diagnostic tests, and perform urologic surgeries when necessary. You’ll also provide urology consultations, manage patient histories, and collaborate with clinical staff.

Responsibilities

• Examine, diagnose, and treat disorders of the genitourinary organs and tracts

• Document and review patient histories

• Order, perform, and interpret diagnostic tests

• Use specialized equipment such as X-rays, fluoroscopes, and catheters

• Perform abdominal, pelvic, or retroperitoneal surgeries as needed

• Treat lower urinary tract dysfunctions

• Prescribe and administer antibiotics, antiseptics, or compresses for infections or injuries

• Prescribe medications for erectile dysfunction, infertility, or ejaculation problems

• Provide urology consultations or refer patients to specialists

• Direct nurses, residents, or other staff

Requirements

• Medical degree with successful completion of a urology residency and fellowship

• Board Certification in urology (required)

• State license and certification to practice urology

• Ability to keep updated on the latest medical technologies

• Flexibility for irregular hours and emergency call

• Strong decision-making, problem-solving, and analytical skills

• Good communication and interpersonal skills

• Teamwork, leadership, and organizational skills
