Description

Provide specialist care for male and female urinary tract conditions and conditions affecting the male reproductive organs. You will evaluate, diagnose, and treat problems involving the kidneys, adrenal glands, and bladder, as well as issues with the prostate and external genitalia. Treatment includes a range of medical approaches and procedures, including surgery when necessary.

Responsibilities

• Examine, diagnose, and treat genitourinary organ and tract disorders

• Document and review patients’ medical histories

• Order, perform, and interpret diagnostic tests

• Use specialized equipment such as X-rays, fluoroscopes, and catheters

• Perform abdominal, pelvic, or retroperitoneal surgeries when needed

• Treat lower urinary tract dysfunctions

• Prescribe and administer antibiotics, antiseptics, or compresses for infections or injuries

• Prescribe medications for erectile dysfunction, infertility, or ejaculation problems

• Provide urology consultations or refer patients to specialists

• Direct nurses, residents, or other clinical staff

Requirements

• Medical degree

• Residency and fellowship in urology completed successfully

• Board Certification required

• State license and certification to practice urology

• Ability to stay updated on the latest medical technologies

• Flexibility to work irregular hours and remain on emergency call

• Strong decision-making, problem-solving, and analytical skills

• Good communication and interpersonal skills

• Teamwork, leadership, and organizational skills
