Description

You will lead a squad of product/backend engineers building and operating data privacy systems that enable responsible handling of customer data at scale. You’ll partner with Product and stakeholders to translate GDPR, CCPA, and other regional privacy regulations into an execution roadmap, while staying technically engaged through architecture/code reviews and incident debugging. You’ll also own operational health for privacy capabilities, deliver core privacy features, and champion privacy-by-design practices across teams.

Responsibilities

• Manage and grow a data privacy engineering squad (hiring, performance management, career development)

• Own the quarterly privacy roadmap with the Product Manager, balancing regulatory deadlines, risk reduction, and platform reliability

• Drive core privacy capabilities: consent and preference management, automated DSAR handling, data retention/deletion pipelines, and PII discovery/classification across domains and systems

• Own operational health of privacy systems: SLAs, data deletion guarantees, audit trail completeness; run postmortems when issues arise

• Partner with Legal, Security, Compliance, and engineering tribes to embed privacy requirements early in product and platform design

• Represent data privacy engineering in cross-tribe forums; manage stakeholder expectations and push back on off-roadmap requests when needed

• Champion privacy-by-design practices and ensure clear, accessible documentation

• Contribute to hiring and capacity planning; conduct regular code reviews and mentor engineers

• Drive continuous improvement and promote the company’s engineering culture
