Description

Lead two backend engineering teams in the Big Data group responsible for processing, storing, and delivering meaningful information for internal product usage and external clients. You will manage people, ensure delivery of development outcomes, and align stakeholders with the product roadmap and agreed technical direction. You’ll also drive system reliability, performance, monitoring, incident management, and continuous process improvements.

Responsibilities

• Hire, mentor, and grow engineers; foster ownership, collaboration, and continuous learning

• Plan, prioritize, and oversee backend project execution to deliver timely, high-quality outcomes

• Collaborate with product and architecture partners to achieve business goals and ensure teams align technically

• Own system reliability, performance, and monitoring; lead incident management and root-cause analysis

• Continuously refine team processes (agile ways of working, CI/CD, testing)

• Communicate progress, risks, and technical trade-offs to leadership and non-technical stakeholders

• Provide technically informed guidance to support scalable, secure, maintainable architecture and design decisions

Requirements

• Proven leadership experience managing backend or cross-functional engineering teams

• Excellent communication and collaboration skills to align engineers, product, and business stakeholders

• Experience delivering projects with agile practices and prioritization; balance short- vs. long-term goals

• Ability to mentor and grow engineers, enabling career development and high performance

• Solid understanding of engineering best practices

• Strong problem-solving and decision-making with both technical depth and business impact

• Track record driving operational excellence (performance, reliability, incident management)
