Description

Lead the technical design and governance of high-scale commerce solutions. Act as a principal advisor to enterprise clients from discovery and architectural blueprints through platform launch and continuous optimization across Shopify Plus, headless frontends, and core enterprise systems. Ensure scalable, secure, and resilient architectures and implementation fidelity.

Responsibilities

• Design scalable, secure, and resilient e-commerce architectures using Shopify Plus, middleware, and enterprise back-office platforms

• Define end-to-end integration patterns using REST/GraphQL APIs, webhooks, and asynchronous/event-driven pipelines (message brokers, event hubs, iPaaS)

• Produce architecture blueprints, technical specifications, sequence diagrams, and data flow models

• Advise on Shopify ecosystem capabilities (Shopify Functions, Checkout UI Extensions, Shopify B2B, Shopify Markets)

• Set standards for headless storefronts built with Hydrogen and Remix, including edge rendering (Shopify Oxygen), caching strategies, and Core Web Vitals

• Lead POC builds and technical spikes to de-risk complex integrations

• Run technical discovery workshops with executive and engineering stakeholders

• Assess non-functional requirements: security, concurrency, compliance, internationalization, and platform rate limits

• Evaluate TCO and architectural trade-offs between native Shopify, custom apps, and third-party SaaS

• Partner with engineering leads to ensure implementation fidelity to blueprints, performance, and security standards

• Mentor technical leads and senior developers on Shopify best practices and modern web patterns

• Perform architecture reviews and performance audits before major deployments

Requirements

• 6+ years in technical architecture or lead engineering roles within enterprise e-commerce

• At least 3+ years architecting solutions on Shopify Plus

• Proven experience integrating Shopify with enterprise platforms (SAP, NetSuite, Microsoft Dynamics 365, Akeneo, Salsify, Salesforce)

• Expertise in Shopify GraphQL Admin & Storefront APIs, API rate-limiting strategies, data migration patterns, and reliable webhook ingestion

• Strong technical grounding in Hydrogen, Remix, React, Node.js, and TypeScript; deep expertise in SSR, edge caching, and web performance optimization

• Familiarity with Shopify extension frameworks (Shopify Functions, App Extensions, Custom Apps) and checkout customization

• Ability to communicate architectural trade-offs to business stakeholders and collaborate with distributed teams

• English proficiency at Upper-Intermediate (B2) or higher
