Description

Lead the technical design and integration of high-scale e-commerce solutions for enterprise clients using Shopify Plus and core enterprise systems. Own end-to-end architecture from discovery and architectural blueprints through platform launch and continuous optimization, spanning secure/resilient integration and headless storefront performance. Serve as a principal technical advisor and mentor to ensure implementation fidelity, security, and non-functional requirements are met.

Responsibilities

• Design scalable, secure, and resilient e-commerce architectures using Shopify Plus, middleware, and enterprise back-office platforms

• Define integration patterns using REST/GraphQL APIs, webhooks, and asynchronous/event-driven pipelines

• Create architecture blueprints, technical specifications, sequence diagrams, and data flow models

• Guide Shopify ecosystem decisions using Shopify Functions, Checkout UI Extensions, Shopify B2B, and Shopify Markets

• Set standards for headless storefronts on Hydrogen and Remix, including edge rendering (Shopify Oxygen), caching, and Core Web Vitals

• Lead POCs and technical spikes to de-risk complex integrations

• Run technical discovery workshops with client executives and engineering teams

• Assess non-functional requirements including security, concurrency, compliance, internationalization, and platform rate limits

• Evaluate total cost of ownership (TCO) and architectural trade-offs across native Shopify, custom apps, and third-party tools

• Partner with engineering leads to ensure implementation fidelity, performance standards, and security guidelines

• Mentor technical leads and senior developers in Shopify best practices and API governance

• Conduct architectural reviews and performance audits before major deployments

Requirements

• 6+ years in technical architecture or lead engineering roles within enterprise e-commerce; at least 3+ years architecting on Shopify Plus

• Experience integrating Shopify with enterprise platforms (SAP, NetSuite, Microsoft Dynamics 365, Akeneo, Salsify, Salesforce)

• Mastery of Shopify GraphQL Admin & Storefront APIs, API rate-limiting strategies, data migration patterns, and webhook ingestion pipelines

• Strong technical grounding in Hydrogen, Remix, React, Node.js, and TypeScript; expertise in SSR, edge caching, and web performance optimization

• Familiarity with Shopify extension frameworks (Shopify Functions, App Extensions, Custom Apps) and checkout customization

• Ability to translate complex architectural trade-offs to business stakeholders and collaborate with distributed engineering teams

• English proficiency at Upper-Intermediate (B2) or higher
