Description

Lead the technical design and integration governance of high-scale commerce solutions built on Shopify Plus. Serve as a principal technical advisor from discovery and architecture blueprints through platform launch and continuous optimization, bridging business objectives with technical execution.

Responsibilities

• Design scalable, secure, and resilient e-commerce architectures across Shopify Plus, middleware, and enterprise back-office platforms

• Define end-to-end integration patterns using REST/GraphQL APIs, webhooks, and asynchronous/event-driven pipelines

• Create architecture blueprints, technical specifications, sequence diagrams, and data flow models

• Guide architectural decisions using Shopify Functions, Checkout UI Extensions, Shopify B2B, and Shopify Markets

• Establish standards for headless storefronts (Hydrogen, Remix) with edge rendering (Shopify Oxygen), caching strategies, and Core Web Vitals

• Lead POCs/technical spikes to de-risk complex integrations

• Run technical discovery workshops with C-level executives and engineering teams

• Assess non-functional requirements (security, concurrency, compliance, internationalization, rate limits)

• Evaluate TCO and architectural trade-offs across native Shopify, custom apps, and third-party tools

• Ensure implementation fidelity against blueprints, performance standards, and security guidelines

• Mentor technical leads and senior developers; conduct architecture reviews and performance audits

Requirements

• 6+ years in technical architecture or lead engineering roles in enterprise e-commerce; at least 3+ years architecting on Shopify Plus

• Demonstrated experience integrating Shopify with enterprise platforms (SAP, NetSuite, Microsoft Dynamics 365, Akeneo, Salsify, Salesforce)

• Mastery of Shopify GraphQL Admin & Storefront APIs, API rate-limiting strategies, data migration patterns, and reliable webhook ingestion pipelines

• Strong foundation in Hydrogen, Remix, React, Node.js, TypeScript; deep expertise in SSR, edge caching, and web performance optimization

• Familiarity with Shopify extension frameworks (Shopify Functions, App Extensions, Custom Apps) and checkout customization

• Ability to communicate complex architectural trade-offs to business stakeholders and collaborate across distributed teams

• English proficiency at Upper-Intermediate level (B2) or higher
