Description

You will lead the technical design and integration for high-scale commerce platforms built on Shopify Plus, headless storefronts, and core enterprise systems. You will act as the principal technical advisor, guiding clients from discovery and architecture blueprints through launch and continuous optimization. You will bridge business objectives and technical execution while designing resilient, secure architectures.

Responsibilities

• Design scalable, secure, and resilient e-commerce architectures leveraging Shopify Plus, middleware layers, and enterprise back-office platforms

• Define end-to-end integration patterns using REST/GraphQL APIs, webhooks, and asynchronous/event-driven pipelines (message brokers, event hubs, iPaaS)

• Create architecture blueprints, technical specifications, sequence diagrams, and data flow models

• Recommend platform decisions using Shopify’s ecosystem (Shopify Functions, Checkout UI Extensions, Shopify B2B, Shopify Markets)

• Establish standards for headless storefronts with Hydrogen and Remix, including edge rendering, caching, and Core Web Vitals

• Lead POC builds and technical spikes to de-risk integrations

• Run technical discovery workshops with C-level executives and engineering teams

• Assess non-functional requirements (security, concurrency, compliance, internationalization, platform rate limits)

• Evaluate total cost of ownership (TCO) and architectural trade-offs across native Shopify, custom apps, and third-party SaaS

• Ensure implementation fidelity with architectural blueprints, performance standards, and security guidelines

• Mentor technical leads and senior developers on Shopify best practices and modern web patterns

• Perform architectural reviews and performance audits before major deployments

Requirements

• 6+ years in technical architecture or lead engineering for enterprise e-commerce; 3+ years architecting on Shopify Plus

• Experience integrating Shopify with core enterprise platforms (e.g., SAP, NetSuite, Microsoft Dynamics 365, Akeneo, Salsify, Salesforce)

• Mastery of Shopify GraphQL Admin and Storefront APIs; experience with rate-limiting, data migration, and webhook ingestion

• Strong technical foundation in Hydrogen, Remix, React, Node.js, and TypeScript; deep expertise in SSR, edge caching, and web performance

• Familiarity with extension frameworks (Shopify Functions, App Extensions, Custom Apps) and modern checkout customization

• Ability to translate complex architectural trade-offs for business stakeholders and coordinate with distributed teams

• English proficiency at B2 or higher
