Description

Lead the technical design, system integration, and delivery governance of high-scale e-commerce solutions. Serve as the principal technical advisor for enterprise clients, guiding them from discovery and architectural blueprints through platform launch and continuous optimization. Bridge business objectives with technical execution across Shopify Plus, headless frontends, and core enterprise systems.

Responsibilities

• Design scalable, secure, and resilient e-commerce architectures using Shopify Plus, middleware, and enterprise back-office platforms

• Define end-to-end integration patterns with REST/GraphQL APIs, webhooks, and asynchronous/event-driven pipelines (message brokers, event hubs, iPaaS)

• Create architecture blueprints, technical specifications, sequence diagrams, and data flow models

• Make architecture decisions using Shopify ecosystem features (Shopify Functions, Checkout UI Extensions, Shopify B2B, Shopify Markets)

• Set standards for headless storefronts using Hydrogen and Remix, including edge rendering (Shopify Oxygen), caching, and Core Web Vitals

• Lead POCs and technical spikes to de-risk complex integrations

• Run technical discovery workshops with C-level executives and engineering teams

• Assess non-functional requirements (security, concurrency, compliance, internationalization, rate limits)

• Evaluate total cost of ownership (TCO) and trade-offs between native Shopify, custom apps, and third-party SaaS

• Ensure implementation fidelity with architecture blueprints, performance standards, and security guidelines

• Mentor technical leads and senior developers on Shopify best practices, API governance, and modern web patterns

• Perform architecture reviews and performance audits before major deployments

Requirements

• 6+ years in technical architecture or lead engineering roles within enterprise e-commerce, including 3+ years architecting on Shopify Plus

• Experience integrating Shopify with enterprise platforms (e.g., SAP, NetSuite, Microsoft Dynamics 365, Akeneo, Salsify, Salesforce)

• Mastery of Shopify GraphQL Admin & Storefront APIs, API rate-limiting strategies, data migration patterns, and reliable webhook ingestion pipelines

• Strong technical grounding in Hydrogen, Remix, React, Node.js, and TypeScript, including SSR, edge caching, and web performance optimization

• Familiarity with modern extension frameworks (Shopify Functions, App Extensions, Custom Apps) and checkout customization

• Ability to translate architectural trade-offs to business stakeholders and collaborate with distributed teams

• English proficiency at Upper-Intermediate level (B2) or higher
