Description

Join a fully remote project to extend and maintain an internal system in the insurance IT domain. You will implement tested, documented changes across business logic, integrations, and databases, co-create system architecture, and support stability and performance by diagnosing production and maintenance issues. You will also plan and deliver migrations and modernizations and maintain technical documentation.

Responsibilities

• Implement changes spanning business logic, integrations, and the database layer; deliver tested and documented solutions

• Co-create system architecture and recommend technical solutions supporting future development

• Ensure stability and performance; diagnose and resolve production and maintenance problems

• Plan and execute migrations and modernization of existing solutions

• Prepare and update technical documentation as part of deliverables

Requirements

• Minimum 3 years of commercial Java development (preferred: Java 21)

• Strong Java/JVM knowledge: object-oriented and functional programming, multithreading, memory management, and JVM internals

• Experience designing, developing, and maintaining enterprise backend applications

• Experience with high-availability systems or systems with a large number of integrations

• Experience delivering changes across business logic, integrations, databases, and tests

• Experience diagnosing production and maintenance issues

• Strong knowledge of Spring Boot (preferred 3.4), Spring Framework, Spring Data JPA, and JPA/Hibernate

• Ability to design layers: REST controllers, application/business logic, data repositories, and integration adapters

• Practical experience with PostgreSQL and Oracle

• Strong SQL, data modeling, and query optimization

• Knowledge of database schema change management tools, especially Liquibase

• Integration design and implementation using REST API, SOAP/Web Services, JSON, XML, OpenAPI, and WSDL/XSD

• Git plus Maven or Gradle; JUnit and Mockito (or equivalent unit-testing tools)

• Ability to prepare unit and integration tests

• Ability to diagnose errors, analyze logs, and optimize application performance

• Practical knowledge of JIRA and Confluence

• Ability to prepare and update technical documentation

• Practical experience using AI tools supporting software development (e.g., GitHub Copilot, Claude Code or equivalents) and knowledge of information security principles when using them
