Description

You will develop and maintain embedded software in C/C++ for Embedded Linux, working with a large legacy monolith codebase. The role focuses on stabilizing and modernizing existing code, implementing cybersecurity measures (including CRA), PKI/key management, code signing, and secure firmware updates with rollback. You will also integrate with an external firmware-signing platform (Laavat) and support security testing and secure-by-design/default practices.

Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain embedded C/C++ software in an Embedded Linux environment

• Stabilize, modernize, and refactor legacy monolith code to reduce technical debt

• Implement CRA-related security solutions

• Build PKI-based key management, code signing, and safe firmware update mechanisms with rollback

• Integrate with the Laavat platform to deliver signed firmware packages

• Apply secure-by-design and secure-by-default practices

• Implement authentication and encryption (at rest and in transit) and minimize attack surface

• Support product security processes including SBOM and Coordinated Vulnerability Disclosure

• Perform and support security testing (fuzzing, penetration testing)

• Implement security event logging and monitoring mechanisms

• Use AI tools to analyze and map large codebases, track data flows, and identify risk areas

• Use AI to generate tests and support safe refactoring

• Implement code quality metrics and engineering standards

• Mentor the team on code quality, security, and working with legacy code

Requirements

• 5+ years of embedded software development experience

• Very good C/C++ knowledge and Embedded Linux experience

• Experience creating and maintaining firmware for embedded devices, including work with legacy monolith codebases

• Practical cybersecurity experience for IoT or industrial automation systems

• Experience implementing secure-by-design and secure-by-default

• Knowledge of PKI, key management, and code signing mechanisms

• Experience implementing secure firmware update mechanisms with rollback

• Knowledge of authentication and encryption at rest and in transit

• Practical knowledge of vulnerability processes, including SBOM and Coordinated Vulnerability Disclosure

• Security testing experience, especially fuzzing and penetration testing

• Knowledge of secure logging/event practices for embedded systems

• Practical use of AI tools on large codebases for code analysis and data-flow tracking

• Ability to create and implement AI-native workflows supporting the team

• Experience stabilizing existing code and reducing technical debt

• Strong mentoring and communication skills

• English proficiency for international work and technical documentation
