Description

Build and grow services for EC2 Capacity Reservations, with responsibility for the front-end service layer that provides APIs for customers to reserve and manage EC2 capacity in a specific Availability Zone. You will deliver scalable, well-designed solutions by translating product and technical requirements into implementation, partnering across EC2 and AWS teams, and maintaining operational excellence. The role includes full lifecycle engineering—design, implementation, testing, deployment, and on-call support—along with cross-functional collaboration to build robust, secure features.

Responsibilities

• Write clean, testable, well-documented code following software engineering best practices

• Identify and resolve ambiguous, high-complexity technical problems; translate requirements into scalable solutions

• Participate in the full software development lifecycle: design, implementation, testing, deployment, and operational support

• Work with teams across EC2 and AWS (e.g., Placement, MIST, Paperwork, EC2 Capacity Blocks, EC2 UltraServers, EC2 Console) to build scalable, flexible interfaces

• Troubleshoot and resolve software defects; maintain code quality via code reviews

• Contribute to on-call rotations and operational excellence

• Partner with cross-functional stakeholders (Product Managers, Application Security Engineers) to drive requirements and build secure features

Requirements

• 3+ years of non-internship professional software development experience

• 2+ years of non-internship design or architecture experience (design patterns, reliability, scaling)

• 1+ year software development engineer or related occupational experience

• 1+ years designing and developing large-scale, multi-tiered, multi-threaded, embedded or distributed software applications, tools, systems, and services using C#, C++, Java, or Perl

• 1+ year object-oriented design experience

• Bachelor’s degree (or foreign equivalent) in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, or a related field

• Experience programming with at least one software programming language

Preferred Qualifications

• 3+ years full software development life cycle experience (coding standards, code reviews, source control, build processes, testing, operations)

• Bachelor’s degree in computer science or equivalent
